Erin: Rachel, it is now just a few short days into the month of May and while we (as a group) have been making some changes and "spring cleaning" our beauty products it is also time to do some spring cleaning with work-outs and mind-fulnesss.
Here are 2 quick thoughts and experiences I had this weekend.
1 - New work-out plans are always difficult for me to get my mind around. Since having a baby it has been extremely hard to do any kind of work-out or meditation or even writing with regularity. When that happens my mind gets mushy. I think that the g3club really pushes me to at least try some new things. I am realizing that ironman competitions may be a thing of the past - but mindfulness, meditation and basic active lifestyle help me to be more appreciative of the earth and people around me.
2 - While working at our Fair Trade Fair, last Saturday, I saw a great journal that I really thought I "needed". After all it was tree-free (made out of Elephant dung). I am taking a writing class next month and it is always nice to start fresh - but I have a number of cool notebooks that sit empty at my house. Needless to say I refrained from buying yet another notebook - although I continue to think about this one I saw. Probably if it comes by my line of site again I will get it after all.
Being green sometimes saves green, but sometimes we can still have fun and nice things.

Hi girls,
ReplyDeleteIt's been fun to keep up with you on this blog. As I read your struggles with finding time and a clear mind to exercise and/or mediate, I thought I'd echo your concerns. It's indeed a struggle for most of us, I think. We have so many competiting events in our lives. One thing I found by accident which I'm sure you do already is multi-task the events as you are able. For example, over the past 12 months, I've tried (albeit not every time) to have a clear focus before I work out. For example, what to think about, who to think about/dedicate the work out to, what to focus on (ie: breathing/mediating) and I found that after that hour workout I accomplish not only the physical part but also the mental part. It's been easy to do this at the club because we often have an instructor to remind us of this, but now that I've been trying more "earthy friendly" workouts like being outside, I still try to do it on my own. Additionally, Erin, I know you are a writer. I have found some topics to write about bubble up in me as I work out....it's sort of a stream of consicousness (I call it "throw up writing") that occurs, but it works for me. I always feel much more aligned afterwards. :)
I appreciate that we are all struggling to fit everything into our day and although it will forever be a challenge, being intentional about it is probably what's been most prominent to me.
Love you, ab
